Non Payment of Rent

Non Payment of Rent

In a lease or tenancy agreement, a tenant is required to pay rent. The landlord does not have to insist on the renter paying the rent. A demand for rent, on the other hand, can act as a helpful reminder for the tenant to pay the rent in full and on time.

A landlord can only officially start enforcement action under a lease or tenancy agreement when the rent has been properly requested according to the lease’s conditions. If their tenancy agreement has a condition stating that the rent must be paid whether or not it is formally demanded, a demand would be unnecessary. Rent can be formally sought following a specific procedure.

It’s standard practice to send a demand rent letter to a renter when the rent is due.
